Overview

BNL, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Data Analyst to support a government client out of our Corporate Office in Herndon, VA.  The primary role is to provide integrate data from Department of Veterans Affairs, other federal government agencies, and third- party sources about Veteran military history, demographics, socioeconomics, and utilization of VA benefits and services, performs descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive statistical analysis on that data.

Responsibilities

  • The Data Analyst will provide support through the following activities:
    • Conducting annual update while incorporating the previous year’s data by performing an extract, transform and load (ETL) process;
    • Improving completeness and data quality;
    • Producing cubes and extracts to support statisticians; and
    • Providing statistical programming and analytic consultation on development methodology and related supports.
  • Maintain and execute the SAS code that performs the ETL and provide the associated documentation, to include version and configuration control of the documentation and SAS code.
  • Produce technical documentation, examining methods to build simulation features and construct scenario and predictive models.
  • Produce a summary quality check report for each ETL and assist in investigating reported quality issues.
  • Assess current SAS ETL code for efficiency and compliance with SAS Coding standards, and implement the identified code changes.
  • Review data and develop a data quality plan to include an assessment of the current status, identify gaps between current quality and benchmark data quality, and identified actions to move data quality toward the
  • Assist in the transition of SAS online analytical processing (OLAP) Cubes to Business Intelligence Service Line (BISL) OLAP environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Statistics or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • SAS Certification a plus.
  • Proficiency with various data analysis and reporting tools, such as SQL, SAS, PowerPoint, Excel and Visual Basic skills required. Expertise with ETL tools a plus.
  • Excellent data gathering and analytical skills.
  • Experience with data visualization methods and approaches.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with large data sets to distill information and present to all levels of organizational leadership.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, including sensitivity analyses, predictive analyses, and trends analyses.
